Euro at Record Strength Vs. £ |
STORY POSTED 17th February 2007. Over recent months, the Currency Exchange Rate of the Euro Vs. the £ (GBP) has seen the Euro reach record highs against our £. As UK importers, we purchase the Viva Yachts from the Factory in Euros, and then produce a UK Retail Price in £ Sterling for our customers. In the last 6 months - since the previous published Viva UK Retail Price List was produced - the Euro has gained unprecedented strength against the £ (in August 2007 the Exchange Rate was 1.47 Euro/£, while at the time of writing the rate is around 1.33 Euro/£). We have monitored these changes and have resisted changing the UK Retail Price List, and absorbed the changes in the hope that this currency deficit would be temporary. Unfortunately the £ has continued to weaken dramatically and we regrettably have no choice but to increase the UK £ price of the Viva Yachts while the Euro remains at these high levels. We would like to make it clear that the price of the Viva Yachts themselves has not changed, it is purely the exchange rate that is driving this increase. Should the exchange rate return to earlier levels then we will be delighted to reduce the Viva UK Retail Price accordingly. Also it should be noted also that all goods from the Euro Zone purchased in GB £ are subject to the same effect, and UK prices of other European built boats are currently the subject of similar increases. Not all aspects of the Viva Price lists are subject to this change, for example trailers (which are UK sourced) and outboard engines (which are supplied via a UK importer) remain un-effected. Other options which are fitted in the UK are also unchanged. A new (and hopefully temporary) UK Retail Price is in effect as of today (17/2/08). We apologise to any customers who may have been consdering a purchase at the previously published prices, but hope you can appreciate that the cause for this increase is beyond our control.
